The Coca-Cola logo uses a custom Spencerian Script, hand-lettered by company bookkeeper Frank Mason Robinson in 1885. Spencerian Script was the dominant American handwriting style of the 19th century — flowing, elegant, with connecting strokes and consistent slant. Robinson chose it because he believed the two capital Cs would look well in advertising. The logo has remained virtually unchanged for 140 years.
